Tammy worked in accounting and bookkeeping most of her career, and she owned her own nail salon. She also worked in the business she owned with her husband, D&T Hardware in Gloster, Louisiana for over 20 years. Although Tammy loved traveling and seeing new places, she was a self-professed home-body. She loved her home, making things pretty and comfortable, and she loved to entertain. Tammy enjoyed elaborately decorating for pool parties, themed birthdays, or any occasion. She loved to cook, feed guests, play games, and make sure everyone in her zone was having fun. She cherished and pampered her pets, and her dog, Mr. Darcy, accompanied her everywhere. Tammy adored her husband of 33 years, and Don was always her sweetheart and her hero.
Tammy loved her children and her grandchildren and was happiest when they were all in her home laughing, playing and making messes. She crocheted funny hats and slippers, and precious baby blankets for almost everyone in the family for years. Tammy believed in keeping things light and breezy and free of conflict. She saw the world through the rose-colored glasses she kept firmly to her face. She was a woman of great love and compassion.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Harold Dean Black of Hope, Arkansas; maternal grandparents, Matt and Thelma Bristow; paternal grandparents, Newt and Nannie Lou Black.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Don Huckabee; mother, Linda Black; sister, Deanna Davis; children, Adam and Zachary Little; stepchildren, Angela Hudson, Beth Berry and Clint Huckabee; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A visitation for Tammy will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108 with Pastor Michael Mynes officiating. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Adam Little, Zachary Little, Clint Huckabee, Jeremy Little, Jordan Little and Justin Little.
