

Shreveport, LA- Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Vera Dodd, 75 of Shreveport, LA, will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Centuries Memorial Funeral Home chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Briggs of River Park Church. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 9 AM to 10:45 AM the day of the service.
Vera was born on August 10, 1940 in Shreveport, LA and passed away at her home surrounded by her family on July 2, 2016. She has been a lifelong resident of Shreveport and has spent the last year of her life living with her oldest granddaughter and family attending many activities and making lots of memories. Vera retired from Western Electric and became a fulltime caregiver to her family and anyone else who needed her. She was loved so much by all that knew her and she never met a stranger. She loved to cook, go to garage sales and play Bunco.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert W. Dodd, Sr., her sisters Maxine Patterson and Edith Walker, and just recently her dear sweet sister-in-law Linda Leonard.
Survivors include sons; Robert W. Dodd, Jr. and Bryan Dodd; daughters, Shelia Howell, Tammy Holbrook, Amanda Arnold and husband Reno; brothers, Jimmy Leonard and David Leonard; sister-in-law Carolyn “Toots” Roach; brother-in-law Earl “Newt” Dodd, Sr., and wife Jaque; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Dodd, Joshua Daugherty, Shawn Leonard, Bubba Vines, Bubba Waldron and Donnie Waldron. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hester, Lynn Tygert, John David Leonard, Reno Arnold and Bobby Dowden.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of St. Joseph hospice and especially our nurse Courtney for their care and compassion. A special thanks to her primary care physician Dr. Sally Ball.
