Archie Giffin Mitchell

MITCHELL, Archie Griffin – 99, Truro/Shubenacadie, passed away peacefully , November 22, 2010. Born March 18, 1911, in Oyster Pond, Jeddore, a son of the late Nelson and Florence (Giffin) Mitchell. He was a heavy equipment operator in civilian life and also was in the R.C.A.F., World War II. He was a former member of the United Church, Oddfellows Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 111 all of Shubenacadie. Archie is survived by daughters Sharon (Bill) Dingle, Hilden; Darlene (Cecil Parker), Brookfield; Wendy (Roy Barnett), Glenhome; son Jerry (Shirley), Truro; five grandchildren; five great -grandchildren and three great –great -grandchildren. Many step grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (McLeod) Mitchell, son Danny, brother Frank, many half and step-brothers and sisters; and son-in-law Larry Atkinson. Visitation Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Ettinger Funeral Home , Shubenacadie, with M. Dale Crawford DLM officiating.
