MacNEIL, Bernard William “Bernie” – 50, Shubenacadie, passed away suddenly on August 4, 2011, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Bernie had battled cancer for the past year and a half. He is survived by his wife and best friend Melody (Smith), daughter Elizabeth (Zach Gilby) who was his pride and joy, sisters Cecilia (Rick) Middleton, Edna (Allen) Tobey; nephews Stephen and Gregory Middleton, Neil Tobey and niece Dawn Tobey. He was predeceased by his loving parents William “Bernie” and Beatrice (Bouchie) MacNeil, also by nephew Eric Tobey. Bernie enjoyed golf, eating lobster at family get togethers and his annual trips to Little Dover. Most of all though, he liked to be at home with his family. The family would like to thank Bernie’s close friends for their love and support during his illness-your visits and games of pool meant so much to him.
