Mr. George Lewis Singer

SINGER, George Lewis - 83, Stewiacke, passed away May 19, 2010, in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Georgefield, Hants County, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Crillo-Bond) Singer. He enjoyed his quiet life at his home in Stewiacke with his wife Annie for 57 years. He was a member of the Willow Bend Seniors Club. He enjoyed playing cards but only if he won. He was a hard worker most of his life, working in the woods, cutting timber with his brother in law Philip Clark and in lumber mills in Stewiacke and Elmsdale. In his later years he worked at Crossley Carpets in Truro until his retirement in 1991. George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his sons Garry (Donna), Havelock, NB; Alvin (Joanne), Milford Station; Brian (Glenda), Lloydminster, Alberta; daughters Patricia (Cecil) Miller, Hardwood Lands; Beverly (Vernon) Kelly, Christina Weir, both of Stewiacke; and Sandra Jarvis (Bill), Truro; grandchildren Alaina, Jarvis, Amy, Lisa, Heather, Jennifer, Amanda, Stephen, Anita, Tony, Jeffery, Christopher, Robert, Kayla; eight great grandchildren; sister in laws Vera Singer, Elizabeth Ettinger, and Helen Clark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Annie (Clark), granddaughter Tammy, sisters Annie, Olie, Grace, Hilda, Nora, Mildred, Lillian, brothers Edward, Douglas and Ralph. He is resting in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, from where visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Friday with funeral service 11am , Saturday, May 22, Rev. Lloyd Ripley officiating. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Donations may be made in memory of George to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetic Association.
