John Richard Bernard

BERNARD, John Richard - 54, Indian Brook, passed away suddenly at home on June 18, 2013. Born in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late John Moses and Annie Mae (Cremo) Bernard. He was owner and operator of Tuff Street Convenience Store. He lived in the States for twenty years. John loved his motorcycle and his new Dodge Ram. He is survived by his companion Lorraine Etter, Indian Brook; brothers David (Helen) Bernard, Roger (Pauline) Bernard, both of Indian Brook; sisters Elizabeth Harnish- Bernard, Halifax; Darlene (Darryl) Morrell, Indian Brook; god-children Nora Francis and Kayla Bernard, Indian Brook; special nephew John Harnish; several nieces and nephews; aunts Annie Paul, Gloria Bernard and Pat Bernard, all of Indian Brook; Gladys Stevens, Eskasoni. He was predeceased by brothers Gordon Bernard in infancy and Roddie Bernard, sister Gloria Francis. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 was held June 20, 21in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A funeral service was held June 27 at St. Kateri’s Church, Indian Brook, Father Tom Kurudeepan OMI officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family wishes to extend special thanks to his homecare worker Sheila Howe of Indian Brook.
