

PREEPER, Mary Rebecca “Minnie” , Nine Mile River/Shubenacadie, it is with great sadness the family of Minnie Preeper announces her passing. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Dartmouth General Hospital, April 20, 2010. Born in Nine Mile River, November 11, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Silas Sr. and Alice (Custance) (Taylor) Thompson. Minnie lived most of her married life in Devon, Halifax County, with her husband Sidney and daughters Shirley and Helen. She enjoyed farm life, quilting, sewing, baking and serving her family and friends. Later in years she enjoyed going with her daughters and family to family birthdays and gatherings, as well as church tea and sales, jamborees, dances, yard sales, visiting relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Mom surprised us when she took her first plane trip in 2000 to Ontario with her niece Lillian to visit nephew Orie and niece Lilah and family. A trip she thoroughly enjoyed. Minnie was a member of the Nine Mile River United Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughters Shirley (Milton) White, Nine Mile River; Helen (Kenny) Boutilier, Belnan; eight grandchildren Merlin (Paula), Yvonne (Steven), John (Dana), Michael (Nancy), Corrina (Greg), Connie (Kevin), Charlene (Brian), Shane (Vickie); eleven great grandchildren Mitchell, Hannah, Travis, Haley, Breagh, Neisha, Dakota, Cole, Braden, twins Jacob and Josie; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Sidney (1982), sisters Hannah MacLeod, Maggie Robinson, Viola Noble, Cassie Wood, Mary Jane Britton, Nancy Murphy, brothers Silas Jr., Charlie, Johnny Taylor, several nieces and nephews. Mom is resting at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie from where visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Thursday, with funeral service 2pm Friday, Rev. Beth Brehaut officiating. Interment in Meaghers Grant Cemetery. A reception in Riverview United Church, Elmsdale will follow the interment. Donations in memory of Minnie may be made to the Liver Foundation of Nova Scotia or Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or Nine Mile River United Church.
