

LEDWIDGE, Ruth Isabel (born Ruth Isabel Blois),81 , Enfield, On Friday, February 12, 2010 at Carter Senior Care, Dartmouth, our dear wife and mother passed away peacefully in her 81st year. Born in Gore, Hants County, Nova Scotia and lived most of her life in Enfield, NS. The beloved wife of Laurie Ledwidge for 59 wonderful years. Loving mother of Jim (Rose), Colleen (Alan), Lynn (David), Doug (Amanda); dear grandchildren Kimberly (Scott), Kyle (Jodi), Cassie (Shawn), Lauren, Brent, Hannah, Luke and great-grandchildren Saege, Kellen, and Brooke. Pre-deceased by infant twin daughter Kathleen Anne, parents Daisy (Harvey) and Alfred Blois, sisters Gladys, Ellen, Florence, Shirley, Thelma and brother John, and twins Olive and Harold. Survived by sisters Mary (Howard), brothers Austin (Sally), and Clyde (Hilda) and all of her wonderful extended families and friends. A graduate of Windsor School of Business, Windsor, Nova Scotia, a personal achievement of hers. Ruth along with her husband Laurie founded Ledwidge Lumber Company Limited, established in Enfield, 67 years ago. Ruth was an active member of Christ Church, Lantz, and the Enfield Elmsdale Anglican Church Women’s Guild, where she enjoyed fellowship and friendship that lasted her lifetime. As a lover of family gatherings, Ruth was famous for her ability to create a memorable meal at the drop of a hat. She loved cottage life, sewing, baking, gardening, creating crafts, shopping, giving and travelling, with frequent trips to ‘the woods’ with number one life partner Laurie. Ruth’s spirit filled a room. She was a dynamic, generous, caring and wholesome lady who’s generosity of love and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all those who were privileged to have known her. She will be forever treasured and fondly remembered with love and heartfelt affection. A very special thank you to all the caring doctors, nurses and staff who provided her with kindness and dignity over the past two years and who prepared she and her family for her journey to her next life. A very special thank you to the caregivers and residents of Carter’s Senior Care, especially to Robin, Mary-Anne, Candace, Michelle, Leanne, and Brittany. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be recognized with visiting hours at Ettinger’s Funeral Home in Shubenacadie, from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, with service to be held at 2pm Monday, Feb. 15, at Christ Anglican Church, Lantz, NS, Rev'd Patricia McKenna officiating. Reception to follow at the Enfield Fire Hall. Donations can be made in her memory to Christ Church Lantz, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, and the Canadian Cancer Society. Family flowers only.
