Betty Lou Dawson, 86, of Sikeston, died September 19, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Born August 6, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Elam Russell and Helen Masterson Vangilder, she was a homemaker and member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston. She also was a member of the Sikeston Country Club and the Ladies Golf Association. On May 2, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., she married Eugene Paul “Doak” Dawson, who preceded her in death on August 17, 2012.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Molly Dawson of Plant City, Fla.; one daughter, Susan King of Abilene, Tex.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
One brother, Kenneth Vangilder, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 23, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
