

Donald E. Hammock, 94, of Sikeston, MO, died January 24, 2015, in the Sikeston Convalescent Center. He was born January 10, 1921 at Atkins, AR to the late Virdie E. and Aimee Hogan Hammock and moved to the Canalou, MO area from Blytheville, AR with this family in 1937.
In December 1941, he married Winifred “Wink” Turner, who preceded him in death on July 5, 2000. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David & Marsha Hammock of Plano, TX; seven grandchildren, Donald E. Hammock III, Janey Radford, Chet Hammock, Jason Miller, Travis Miller, Aaron Hammock and Andrew Hammock; thirteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was also preceded in death by son, Donald E. Hammock, Jr., daughter, Aimee E. Miller, infant daughter, Mary Evelyn Hammock, as well as his twin brother, Douglas L. Hammock, and two grandchildren, Jon Hammock and Steffanie Hammock.
Mr. Hammock was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morehouse, and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Canalou. During his lifetime, he was a farmer, grocery store owner, banker, and in his retirement years worked as a parts department manager, merchandise auditor, and bookkeeper. He also surveyed farm land in New Madrid and Stoddard counties.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Randy Conn, assisted by Rev. Don Slatton. Interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, MO. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Donald E. Hammock III, Chet Hammock, Aaron Hammock, Andrew Hammock, Jason Miller, and Travis Miller.
