

Elizabeth Evangeline Cannon, 87, of Sikeston, died February 8, 2013, at her son’s home in Benton. Born December 4, 1925, in Halls,Tenn., to the late Bryant and Myrtle Irene Riddick Young, she had been employed as a desk clerk by the Dunn Hotel in Sikeston and retired from the Sikeston Yellow Cab Company, where she was a dispatcher. She was an avid animal lover and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan, and enjoyed attending the Cardinal games. She was a member of the Morehouse Assembly of God Church. On July 20, 1940, in Ripley, Tenn., she married William L. Cannon, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Anita Cannon of Benton; and 8 grandchildren, Tammy Crane, Brandy Green, Greg Casey, Missy Casey and Chris Cannon, all of Sikeston, Todd Cannon of Scott City, Jeff Long of Bell City and Jimmy Casey of Sturdivant. Also surviving are 22 great grandchildren, Wendi, Samantha, Megan, Stormy, Amber, James, Austin, Tyler, Riley, Kyle, Aaron, Alyssa, Lauren, Dalton, Nicki, Averie, Hallie, T.J., Jeffery, Jessie, Mayson and Dalon; and 6 great-great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Nicole, Bailee, Lillie
and Remington.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Young; one sister, Mary Taylor; and one nephew, Gene Taylor.
The family would like to express special thanks to friends and caregivers, Kay Seiler, Dottie Sinyard and Melissa Gates; and the staff of the Sikeston Dialysis Center.
Visitation will be held from 11am until time of the funeral service at 1pm on Tuesday, February 12, at the Morehouse Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Larry Portwood, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Ricky Green, Hank Crane, Chris Cannon, Jeff Long, Todd Cannon and Jim Burch.
