Phyllis LaPlant Aduddell

Phyllis LaPlant Aduddell, age 73, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at her home. Born December 1, 1939, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Clifford and Doris Cutliph LaPlant, she retired as a teacher for Sikeston Public Schools. She was first married in the year 1960 to James G. Malone, who preceded her in death. On July 27, 1979, in Sikeston, she married James Aduddell, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Erika Malone of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Todd Fite of Munford, Tenn.; three step children and their spouses, Debra and Rayburn Evans of Sikeston, Teresa and Paul Murphy of Sikeston, and Scott and Lori Aduddell of Springfield; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Beth and Terry Lee of East Prairie. Also surviving are three grandchildren, six step grandchildren, one great grandchild and two step great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, at the LaPlant Family Home Place near LaForge. Family and friends are invited to attend, and casual attire is acceptable. Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Directions to the LaPlant Family Home Place are as follows:

From I-55 take the Kewanee exit ( exit 52-State Hwy P). Coming from the south, turn right / from the north, turn left. Then go east on Hwy P for 8 miles.

Hwy P will take you to the second levee. When you find yourself on the levee, look to the left for County Road 740. Turn left on County Road 740 down the levee. At the split, stay right. It will be the first house on the right.
