Alma Jeanette Strauss passed away on April 26, 2025 at her home in Bowie, Maryland at the age of 94. A former Chapter President of Dance Masters of America, Miss Jeanette as she was known, founded Jeanette's School of Dance in Glen Burnie, Maryland more than 70 years ago. Today, it's still in operation in the "Heart of Glen Burnie". Miss Jeanette was one of the most creative people you would ever meet: she was an artist, a seamstress, a costume designer, a dancer, and a choreographer. She spent her life sharing her love and passion for dance, teaching hundreds of students in the Northern Anne Arundel County & Baltimore area. The Art of Dance will surely miss her.
A funeral service for Alma will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at George Washington/Mt Lebanon Cemeteries, 9500 Riggs Rd, Adelphi, MD 20783.
