Betty Mirakian

Betty Mirakian, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Galax, VA, she lived in Richmond, VA before building a life in Silver Spring, MD with her husband, Paul Mirakian Jr, filled with love, kindness, and quiet strength.

A woman of grace and admirable character, Betty was known for her humility, kindness, and endearing nature. She carried herself with poise and a gentle spirit. Though reserved, those who knew her treasured her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She was deeply empathetic and observant, always noticing when someone needed a kind word, a listening ear, or a thoughtful gesture.

She was devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life such as spending time with her loved ones and tending to her garden. She had a passion for reading, a love of nature, and faithfully completed a crossword puzzle every single day.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Mirakian Jr.; her parents, John Glenn Carico Sr. and Ruth Harrison Carico; her sister, Bonnie Wiley; and her brother, John Glenn Carico Jr. She is survived by her three loving children and their families: Gregg Mirakian, his wife Michelle Mirakian, and their daughters Breanna Mirakian and Carly Mirakian; Cathy Cutbush, her daughter Calli Waller, her husband Garrett Waller, and their son Virgil Waller; and Sharon Huntley, her husband Steven Huntley, and their son Owen Huntley. Her grandchildren and great-grandson were her greatest treasures, and her love for them was immeasurable.

Her legacy is one of grace, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her. A service to honor her life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 1 p.m., at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 11612 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. Following the service, the burial will take place at Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville, MD.
