Mrs. Debra Ann (Gildon) Coffman, daughter of the late Billy Charles and Betty Jane (Rexford) Gildon of Washington, D.C., was born on October 15, 1958, and on November 30, 2020, succumbed to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. Debbie passed peacefully shortly after sunset Monday evening and was surrounded by family, both near and far, in the preceding days.
Debbie was a diehard Redskins fan, followed the Oriole’s religiously until she crossed over the dark side and supported the Nationals. Anyone who knew Debbie knew her love for country music, a cold Pepsi and a few slices of Ledo’s Pizza. She never turned down a ride on the back of a motorcycle, loved watching the wave’s crash on the shores in Ocean City, had a fantastic sweet tooth for milk chocolate of any kind, and an infectious laugh that got everyone giggling with her. She has been described as, “Unique, one of a kind, someone I have never met, sharp, loving, silly, quick witted, a jokester, loved her son more than anything in the world, dedicated family member, friend to many and enemy to few, and willing to enjoy the moments”.
Debbie accomplished several things in her life that defined her and of those the first would be mother to Ian, sister to Donna, partner to Chris, daughter to Bill and Betty, as well as she was a member of Jobs Daughters, Life time member of the Eastern Star, Past Matron Hope Chapter #30, Washington, D.C. and Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter. Debbie lived in Beltsville with her late husband, James Dale Coffman, and her son Ian Michael. After the death of her husband she then shared her life with Christopher Whitehouse until 2012 when she moved to Montgomery Village Sunrise Senior Living then in 2015 due to complications from MS she moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Annapolis Maryland to be closer to her sister, Donna.
Debbie is survived by her son Ian Michael Coffman and fiance Amanda , her sister Donna (Gildon) Poindexter and her husband Thomas : Ashley Poindexter-Tarmy (niece) and husband Adam Tarmy, Rowan Tarmy and Keira Tarmy (great nieces), Arron Poindexter (nephew) and his wife Christina: Ramses Poindexter, Liam Poindexter, Drake Poindexter and Kyle Poindexter (great nephews) Andrew Poindexter (nephew).
