

Elizabeth “Libby” Wilson, 92 of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Serene Homestead residential assisted living home. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 69 years Emanuel “Manny” Wilson.
Born in Cartersville, VA on August 01, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Jones, and Esther (Watkins) Hudson. Elizabeth graduated from the Cumberland Training school in Cumberland, Virginia and attended Virginia State College (Virginia State University), in Petersburg, Virginia, where she majored in accounting.
Elizabeth loved working with numbers. She worked at various jobs where she utilized her accounting skills during her 22-year tenure at IBM Corporation starting in Newark, New Jersey, then Washington, DC and finally in Bethesda, Maryland. Elizabeth retired from IBM in 1989.
Elizabeth who had an extensive social network, was involved in a variety of activities and organizations throughout her life. She was a frequent and passionate bridge player and participated in a group called the “Monday Nighters” while living in Montclair, New Jersey during the 1960’s and 1970’s. After moving to Maryland, she played in various bridge groups, and traveled around the country to play in tournaments. Elizabeth was also an active member of Jack and Jill of America starting in New Haven, Connecticut during the 1950’s and in the North Jersey chapter, during the 1960’s and 1970’s. In the 1980’s and 1990’s Elizabeth was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association.
Elizabeth was a faithful communicant of Transfiguration Parish and then Grace Episcopal Church, both in Silver Spring, MD. She was very involved in church activities over the years, including serving as lector, usher, and senior warden. Elizabeth especially loved fundraising activities for the church. In later years Elizabeth served as a lector while attending Grace Episcopal Church.
Elizabeth also loved to bake. Her cakes and pies were made with loving hands. Elizabeth sometimes did some light catering on the side. Her delicacies were always appreciated. She loved to entertain and took pride in her delicious menus.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish in her memory, son Michael Wilson of Fort Worth, TX, daughters Marcia Wilson of Laurel, MD, and Marilyn Wilson Burnett of Stone Mountain, GA; a beloved daughter-in-law Teri Wilson of Euless, TX; grandchildren: Mario Wilson, Marcus (Christan) Wilson, William Burnett, Elizabeth (Liz) Burnett, Joseph Burnett, and Sydney Burnett; brother Ernest “Boots” (Alicia) Jones; a host of great-grandchildren; and nieces; other relatives and devoted friends. She was predeceased by siblings James Jones and Robert Jones, and granddaughter Angela Starr Wilson.
The funeral service will take place at Transfiguration Parish in Silver Spring, Maryland on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 12:00 noon, with viewing beginning at 11:00 am.
