Gail Sander, 67, of Potomac, Maryland, died peacefully at home surrounded by her adored children and devoted dog on Friday, June 7, 2024. Gail was born on February 23, 1957, at the Frankfort Army Hospital in Frankfort, Germany. She grew up in Riverdale and New Rochelle, New York and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania before settling in Potomac, Maryland.
Gail is survived by her son Jeffrey (Stacy) Astrove and their children Henry and Josephine, her son Brian Astrove, her daughter Michelle (Joshua) Bridge and their child Madelyn, her partner of 23 years Stuart Dvorkin and his son William, her mother Carole Sander, her sisters Elizabeth (Mark Zabarsky) Sander and Karen (David) McGaha, her ex-husband David (Deborah) Astrove, and her many loyal friends and extended family members.
Gail devoted her life to her family. She fiercely loved her three children and three grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible. She loved attending concerts (such as the Eagles), traveling with Stuart, and walking their dog, Maggie. Gail cared deeply for the people around her. She was thoughtful, caring, considerate, and driven to find ways to help and support others. She was a beloved fitness instructor, known by her many longtime clients for her compassion and dedication to their well-being. She specialized in Pilates Reformer and pushed her students outside of their comfort zones to improve.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, H. James Sander.
A private funeral will be held for the family. The family will be receiving visitors afterwards at the Bridge household.
