

She grew up in a close knit family surrounded by her mother, grandmother and many adoring aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Oaklawn Elementary School and Newbold High School, graduating in 1963.
During her high school years, she was an excellent student with a vibrant personality and was elected to positions of trust and responsibility within many extra-curricular organizations. She served as a member of the 1963 high school Year Book Staff and was voted Most Popular student among her peers. She was a member of the Library Staff, the Homecoming Court and the Cheerleading Squad. In addition, she served as President of Newbold High School's branch of The New Homemakers of America, Treasurer of the Dramatic Club and Secretary of the Student Council. Upon graduation, she attended Howard University in Washington, D.C and later transferred to St. Paul College in Virginia. During her adult life, she was a wife and mother and worked full-time as an insurance agent and part-time as a sales clerk in retail until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her mother and son watching football, basketball and her "stories." Throughout her life, she maintained contact and close ties with her extended family and friends.
She is survived by her mother, Frankie L. Carson and her son, Marcus E. Horton of Silver Spring, Md.; her cousins, Herman Steve Baskerville, his wife Janice Baskerville and family, of Illinois and Pennsylvania; her cousin, Benjamin Carson, Jr. of New Jersey; the Family of Sylvia Baskerville Turner and her husband Reverend Eugene Turner of New York and a host of friends.
