Born in Mexico City in 1959 , Marilu came to the United States and grew up in the Washington D.C.area in the 1960's alongside her siblings Alfredo , Gerardo , Adi , Jack , Eddie as well as her parents Juan & Clara Fuentes.
After graduating from St. Cecilia's in SE Washington D.C. and attending the Maryland Drafting Institute in College Park, MD . Marilu began her career as a drafting engineer for Pepco until retiring in 2014.
Marilu loved to spend time with family and friends , attending weddings , birthday parties , designing costumes , baking cakes , shopping & traveling the world .
Luzmaria is survived by her 3 loving sons , Cedrick , Derrick and Rodrick . Grandchildren , Mercedez , Santana , Little Derrick , Imani , Riley and Great Grandson Star.
The Matriarch of our family will be truly missed but never forgotten. Her sacrifice, determination , love , selflessness and loyalty is rare in this world . Words can not begin to describe the impact her life had on us .
A visitation for Luzmaria will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church, 11801 Claridge Road, Wheaton, Maryland 20902. A burial will occur Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
