Marcella Arlene Goelman ("Marcie"), 83**, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, surrounded by love. Born in Minneapolis, Marcie spent most of her life in the Philadelphia area and later in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
A devoted educator, Marcie dedicated her career to teaching children and spent many years volunteering to support literacy among immigrant adults. Her passion for justice and equity extended into her activism—she was a fierce advocate for reproductive freedom and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about gun violence.
Marcie had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of curiosity. She was rarely without a full calendar—playing mahjong, attending folk music concerts, and diving into lecture series at Riderwood Senior Living. She made friends wherever she went and maintained a wide and joyful circle throughout her life.
But above all, Marcie’s greatest love was her family. She cherished time spent playing games, traveling, and never missing out on a shared moment—forever fueled by a little FOMO and a lot of love.
Marcie is survived by her beloved husband, Don Goelman; her four children, Debbie, Aitan, Ari, and Tamar; and her nine adored grandchildren: Maya, Tali, Avi, Ellie, Ella, Leo, Morgan, Dasha, and Rosie. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, connection, and conviction, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Encore Theatre at Riderwood Senior Living Community.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any contributions to be made to the ALS Association, a cause Marcie passionately supported during her live in loving memory of her younger sister, Judy.
The family will be sitting shiva after the memorial service on 4/18 and in the days following, and will provide details about the location of shiva when available.
