Marcella Johnson

Jean was born on September 25 1946 and passed away on April 17 2026 at the age of 79.

Jean was born in Ireland to James and Kitty Lambe as the eldest of 8 children. She left Ireland in 1967 and immigrated to the United States settling in the Washington DC area. Jean married Hampton Johnson in August 1970. She went on to have 2 daughters Ashley and Gillian. She began working for Montgomery County Public schools in the early 1980's. First in the school cafeterias and then as a Special Needs Assistant, a job she particularly loved. She retired in 2006. Jean and Hampton settled in Leisure World in 2004. She traveled to her beloved Ireland every summer for 25 years.

Jean had various interests including bowling, playing bingo, walking and socializing with friends. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.

Jean is predeceased by her parents, brother John Paul and sister Miriam. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Hampton Johnson, her daughters Ashley and Gillian, son in law Mike Wood, grandchildren Isabel and Owen Wood and Nathan, Charlie and Holly Barrett. She is also survived by her sisters Patsy, Valerie, Bernadette, and Martina, her brother Jim Lambe, sister in law, brothers in law, her sister in law Yvonne Mayer, brother in law Brent Johnson and their spouses.

Jean's funeral will take place on Monday April 27 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Leisure World. Visitation starts at 11:00 and the funeral mass at 11:30. There will be a reception afterwards in Leisure World's Clubhouse One.
