Melvin Irving Slater age 88, died February 8th peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Mel was born November 8th, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Herbert Daniel Slater and Mary (Warshauer) Slater. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson College and was a successful business owner of two auto parts stores in New Jersey. He was married for 67 beautiful years to his wife, Bernice (Feingold) Slater. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Slater. He is survived by his wife, their children Gerri (Slater) and Keith Noesges, Jacqueline (Slater) and Stephen Solomon, and Daniel and Cindi Arost Slater. Mel was blessed with loving grandchildren: Samantha (Weinstein) and Alex Heisler, Mandi (Solomon) and Jonathan Gold, Robert Weinstein and Emerald Becker, Ryan Solomon, Jacob Slater and Ben Slater. He was adored by his great grandchildren: Justin Heisler, Brielle Heisler, and Jules Weinstein.
A service of remembrance will be held at 12:30pm on Sunday February 12th at Temple Emanuel, 10101 Connecticut Ave Kensington, MD 20895.
