We met her at an activity organized by the Chilean-American Foundation, an organization and community she loved and dedicated to help for decades to support the neediest children in Chile.

The community of the Chilean-American Foundation is deeply sad with the passing of Miriam. We will miss her dearly. Here is part of the announcement we made that we hope reaches her family.

"We are sad to announce the passing of Miriam Israel, our dear friend, collaborator and former director of the Chilean-American Foundation (2002-2006) and recipient of our recognition award in 2007 for her dedication to our mission in favor of the neediest children in Chile.
We will always remember her for her openness to listening to anyone who approached her and for her wise and humble advice. Miriam gave us a wonderful example of solidarity and conscience along her husband Arturo Israel (also a former director of this Foundation prior to passing) in support of the children and youth of Chile to improve their lives.

Te echaremos tanto de menos! Dejaste una huella imborrable en este mundo. Fuiste un ejemplo de mujer fuerte, compasiva, trabajadora, querendona, dulce y enérgica, inteligente y sabia. 
Nos consuela pensar que Arturo te habrá recibido en el great beyond con los brazos abiertos. Ahora ya no se separan más.
