Nell W. Brock

On Friday, August 12, 2016, Nell Wysor Brock of Ellicott City, MD formerly of Gaithersburg, MD. Beloved wife of the late James E. Brock; devoted and loving mother of Shelly D. (David) Anderson and Janine M. (Michael) MacDonald; stepmother of Ed Brock, Steve Brock, Beth Lee, Amy Russell and Andrew Brock; dear sister of Marylyn (Thomas) Rinn, Virginia (James) Hurless; adored grandmother of Sarah MacDonald, Josianna MacDonald, Erik Anderson; step grandmother of Sarah Brock, Gregory Brock, William Brock, Gunner Brock, Matthew Russell, Andrew Russell, Evan Russell, Cole Russell, Allison Lee and Rebecca Lee.

Nell had lived and worked in the Washington, DC area since she was 17 years old. Her first job was working for the FBI as a clerk typist. Her career with the government took her to the Pentagon and the Department of Health and Human Services where she retired after 35 years of service as a Grants Technical Assistant. After her retirement, she worked for IBM in Gaithersburg, MD and a prominent lawyer''s office in Rockville, where she retired a second time. After her retirement she would walk the Lake Forest Mall for exercise. During her walks, she started to deliver the weekly Gaithersburg Gazette to all of the stores. Outside of her passion for work and service, her true passion was her family and dancing. She loved to go with her two daughters on their yearly get away trips. She referred to them as the "Three Musketeers".

A funeral service will be held at Hines Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD, 20904 on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. The family will have a reception at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service. She will be laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Park later in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Alzheimer''s Disease Research, www.brightfocus.org/alzheimers, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg MD 20871.
