

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Niop Garang Alier Kut, who left this world on May 27, 2025. Niop was born on January 1, 1973, at Baidit, Bor County, Jonglei State, to Garang Alier Kut Kwai from the Kwai Ajak sub-clan of the Angakuei Community and Agook Jok Malual Chol from the Nyaraa sub-clan of the Abiei Clanof Kolnyang Payam, Bor County, Jonglei State.
Niop was the beloved brother to:
• Nyanchuot Garang Alier Kut (deceased)
• Nyandot Garang Alier Kut (deceased)
• Alier Garang Alier Kut (deceased), survived by his wife and four sons, and two daughters
• Anaai Garang Alier Kut (deceased)
• Dhuoor Garang Alier Kut, his two wives, two daughters, and two sons
• Atong (lok) Garang Alier Kut (deceased)
Niop began his education at Baidit Primary School in Baidit, Bor County. He later attended Hella Ahmed Intermediate School in Khartoum South, Sudan, and graduated from Sennar Secondary School in Sennar, El Jaseera State. He briefly pursued further studies at Hillside College in Maryland, USA.
Niop worked for Shell Company in Khartoum from 1993 to 1999, contributing to the company with dedication and integrity. After moving to the USA as a refugee, he worked in various capacities including as a taxi driver, security officer, and with FedEx, always showing commitment to his work and the people around him.
Although Niop never married, he was deeply loved and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues. He was known for his strong sense of integrity, his gentle character, and his unwavering kindness. He made lasting friendships in both his homeland and abroad, and will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Niop will be missed by his extended family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and integrity will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
