Rene Paluay Buenvenida

Passed away peacefully on the morning of August 11, 2015 in Silver Spring, MD.

Rene was born on December 17, 1937 in the province of Iloilo, Philippines, to parents Pio, Sr. and Roberta. Rene attended college at the University of the Philippines, Iloilo College and received his M.D. from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 1961, finishing at the top 1% of his class.

Rene was board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 1974. In 1978, Rene was Pathologist and Director of Laboratory at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, WV, and practiced there for 28 years before retiring. He was also staff pathologist at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

He is survived by his beloved wife Delia of 45 years, daughters Tricia and Pearl, son RJ, grandson Jax, and sisters Llena and Grace.

Viewing and prayer services will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD on Sunday, August 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 17, 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD. Interment services will follow at Gate of Heaven in Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PMA-MWDC or UERMMMC Alumni Foundation.
