OBITUARY

Rodolfo F. Keil

4 January, 1941 – 3 June, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home

Rodolfo Keil, fondly known as Rudy to his family and friends, passed away on June 3, 2024, after a short but serious illness. He was born on January 4, 1941, in Mexico, where he spent his early years.

Rudy’s adventurous spirit led him to join the US Air Force as a young man. His drive and commitment then saw him take a position at the U.S. State Department and eventually become a Foreign Service Officer leading to a long career in public service. It was during his time, stationed in Europe, that he met his beloved wife Emily. Together, they embarked on a lifetime of travel and service, sharing experiences with their cherished daughter, Helen. Stationed from Prague to Brussels, Kenya to Jordan, and seven years in the Balkans, Rudy’s work took the family across the globe, where they embraced and learned about diverse cultures and languages.

Rudy will be remembered as a family man, for his commitment to making the world a better place through public service, and insatiable curiosity. He had a unique ability to connect family histories with the broader events of their times, enriching those around him with his insights and anecdotes. His integrity was unwavering; he always chose the right path, even if it was not the right one..

Rudy is survived by his loving wife Emily, his daughter Helen, granddaughter Matilda, and son-in-law Tobias Losch. His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and dedication will live on in their hearts.

A funeral service to honor Rudy’s life will be held for family and relatives on June 25, 2024 in Silver Spring, MD.

In lieu of flowers and other tokens of appreciation, Rudy would have appreciated donations to the American Lung Association.
