MR. SAMUEL SMITH, SR.

Mr. Samuel (Sam) Smith Sr., husband, father, brother, friend and an amazing electrician passed away on March 14, 2019. Sam was born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, to the late Corrine Smith and Exsee Smith on June 2, 1949. After finishing high school Sam made Maryland his home for more than 40 years and worked at Montgomery College as an electrician until his retirement.Sam was a hard worker with a big spirit and personality.
All who knew him would describe him as a remarkable man with a great sense of humor. Sam created many memories with those whose lives he touched. Even though he suffered many years of illness, he always welcomed all into his life and maintained an incredible sense of humor. Sam had a rare combination of a love of life, laughter in his heart, and a firm understanding that family was one of several keys to eternal life.
Sam was loved dearly by all he came into contact with. He will be sorely missed by them all. Those left to cherish memories include his wife and soulmate Saundra Smith of Silver Spring, MD; his sons, Andre Smith (Gia) of the home and Sam Jr., who preceded him in death, and Eric Benjamin (Jackson, NC); a granddaughter Aliya and a grandson Otto. His siblings include, Rudolph (Ivy) Smith (Greenville, NC); Corine Smith (Tarboro, NC); Martha (Euric) Thomas (Staten Island, NY), Excee (Francis) Smith (Staten Island, NY), Danford Smith (Washington, DC), Deborah Smith (Brooklyn, NY), Mary Moore (Laurel, MD), and Cheryl Anthony (Hyattsville, MD). Siblings who preceded him in death include, Randolph Smith, Knorly Smith, Douglas Smith, Mamie Johnson, and Oscar Smith. There are a host of sister-n-laws, brother-n-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends who will continue to cherish the wonderful memories left by Samuel Smith Sr.
