
Sandra “Sandy” Cecelia Greer (Warsaw, nee Shafritz) was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of Saul and Anna (Geller) Shafritz. Sandy passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, surrounded by her children. Sandy was the widow of Howard Stanley Greer. The happy couple was together for 32 years, married for 18 years, and enjoyed ballroom dancing together.
Sandy is survived by her beloved children Barry (partner, Kim Thomas), Craig (Ellen), Michael (Deb) Warsaw, and Carrie (Louis) Jeroslow, beloved step-children David (Whitney) and Juliet Greer, cherished grandchildren Beth Warsaw Bradley (Michael), Brian (partner, Jessica Carpenter), Matthew, Joshua, and Maxwell (Emma-Lea Jacklin) Warsaw, Elijah and Judah Jeroslow, and great-grandson John Howard Warsaw, cherished step-grandchildren Lauren and Rachael Greer, adored and devoted twin sister Barbara “Bobbie” (Shafritz) Feldman (Frank, deceased), nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Stephen Shafritz (Jane, deceased).
Sandy received her BS from the University of Maryland and was a Textile Researcher at the Harris Research Laboratory. Sandy later worked as a Sales Associate in Men’s Attire at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Sandy was known for developing meaningful friendships, many maintained for decades. She was beloved by everyone she met, including friends with whom she enjoyed daily walks and people she met for the first time. Sandy loved to cook and bake for the special people in her life. She was a longtime volunteer at the Smithsonian Museums, Brookside Gardens Wings of Fancy Live Butterfly & Caterpillar Exhibit, and as an usher at multiple local theaters.
A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, 11:00 am, at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904, followed by interment at King David Memorial Gardens, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
