Nazi Germany took control of Romania while Yetty was a young teenager. She and several other family members were able to escape to Trinidad through the intervention of an uncle who had some influence. Tragically, other family members were not as fortunate. Her first marriage was to Ruben Wexler, with whom she bore her only child, Phil, in 1950. She became a naturalized US citizen. After a divorce, she met and eventually married Harold Wilensky, known by everyone as Will, who passed away 7 years ago.
Yetty and Will lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years, before moving to Rockville, to be close to Phil and his wife, Nancy.
She retired from the bank, Irving Trust Company, where she worked in a clerical capacity. She dearly loved and doted on her two beloved Maltese dogs, Coco and Cosette, was skilled in knitting and needlepoint, enjoyed opera and reading the classics, and was an outstanding vegetarian cook.
The Jewish Social Services Agency (JSSA), through their Holocaust Survivor Program and At-Home Hospice Program, along with a privately hired caregiver, provided excellent attention to Yetty in her final years and days.
May her memory be a blessing.
