Dear Friends,

I met our beloved friend, Ann Marcia Lee via a "pen friend" magazine that we both subscribed to. It was called "LEX"...otherwise known as The Letter Exchange. There was a list of subjects in the front. If you had an affinity for classical music---like I do, you could find a pen friend to correspond with. This was in the mid-1980's, while she still worked at WFMT-FM. She used to regale me with stories of Sir Georg Solti and his antics.

Ann used to include me in some of her e-mails, with others that she would "CC". The emails got a bit overwhelming when she had computer troubles. When the health problems became too much for her, the emails ceased. We then just lost track of one another.

In case you didn't know, she just l-o-v-e-d England. Ann Marcia and I would write incessantly about "Upstairs/Downstairs" and the household of Lord Bellamy and his family that resided at 165 Eaton Place. Ann actually went to the house and wrote what her feelings were upon first seeing it!

Our friend Ann was one in a million gem---she would absolutely love "Downton Abbey".

If you love the series also [on P.B.S.], the next time you watch it, think of our beloved friend Ann...I do.

My sincere sympathies to Ann's family.  I met Ann in 1972 when I became a law clerk at Lowell Komie's firm.  For years we played the "Name Game" searching for funny and unusual names wherever found.  She was so kind to me and always congratulated me on my successes.  The world is a smaller place without her loving heart.

Ann and I were members of a group of four 20 year-old friends at the U. of Illinois, Navy Pier, in 1950-51.  We had lots of laughs and great companionship.  After a gap of many years we reunited when she moved to the Breakers several years ago.  I admired and respected Ann and will miss her.  My condolences to her family.

"Aunt Annie" Confident, smart, witty, opionionated.... truely one of a kind! You are loved and I will miss you "molto". Mike, Bonnie and family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

AUNT ANNIE, THE MANY MEMORIES YOU GAVE TO MY SISTERS AND MYSELF ARE PRICELESS. TO STATE THEY WERE IMPRESSIVE TO A YOUNG GIRL FROM A SMALL TOWN IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!! THE SHIP OF ITALIAN SAILORS, THE FINE DINNING, THE PLAYS AND MUSICAL ENRICHMENT. WOW. AN EXPERIENCE ANY GIRL WOULD RELISH. YOU WIDENED MY WORLD AND I, AS YOU KNOW, FOLLOWED YOUR CUE AND TRAVELED HALF WAY 'ROUND THE WORLD TWICE. MARRIED A SAILOR AND LIVED IN ITALY 6 YEARS! BOY, BET YOU LAUGHED A THAT TWIST OF FATE.. THE LAST I SAW YOU, YOU TOLD ME YOU LOVED LOOKING AT THE PHOTO ALBUM I HAD BROUGHT. I WAS SO HAPPY, EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE VERY ILL,YOU STILL SHOWED ME HOW MUCH YOU LOVED AND CARED ABOUT EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY. SO GRACIOUS AND KIND YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN. FOREVER IN MY HEART.

Aunt Annie, I will always remember you and miss you with all my heart.  I will keep close to my heart the times I stayed with you in the summers and especially the time you put me on the plane to fly back to Muskegon with gum in my hair.  Mom wasn't happy, but I had a great time.  An amazing woman you are and always will be.  In my heart you will remain for always.  Love you Aunt Annie.  Love always, Claire Lee (your namesake).

I've lost my "sister".  Since 8th grade we loved each other, shared secrets and she loved my daughters as her own.  In April when she was looking at possible surgery I was going to donated blood--she said that would make me an official sister.  The friends she made starting with  old fashion pen pals and now with E-mail pals will share that same void I feel. Hey,Stinky  I love you.  June Wilson Lumley

I have known Ann as long as I have been a friend of Mike and his wife Bonnie.  My condolences to my best friend and his wife.

Probably the most amazing and smartest woman I will ever know. Ann Marcia Lee, "Aunt Annie", never married or had children, yet had the most exciting, adventurous, and fulfilling life anyone could hope to have. She was truly ahead of her time. My sympathies to all.

Intelligent, cultured, well-traveled, witty--Ann was a woman of many strengths with a great love for animals and opera. She added a lot of joy to my life in the 25 years I knew her, and I will greatly miss her laugh and pithy sense of humor.

My heartfelt condolences to Ann's family. We too will miss her here at  the Breakers.

Betty Winer introduced me to Ann Marcia and we were friends for several years.  I'm grateful I was able to have a good visit with her the Sunday after her 80th birthday.  I pray you will find comfort in knowing she's no longer suffering.
