Francillia E Petocchi

1930-2014 Francillia E. Petocchi, 83, of Madison, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Skowhegan on Nov. 17, 1930, she was the daughter of Albert A. and Exzelia (Badeau) Lanctot. Francillia graduated from Skowhegan High School in the class of 1949. She married Corrado Petocchi on Nov. 17, 1956, in Renazza, Italy. Corrado died in 1997. Early in her employment, Fran worked for the Bangor Mental Hospital as a certified nursing assistant for several years. She then became a self-employed hair dresser for many years. In 1986, she worked at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center for 10 years until her retirement. Francillia was a member of the Senior Spectrum in Madison. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking, going to camp and knitting. She spent many hours knitting baby hats for Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two children: Leonardo Petocchi and his companion, Brenda Myshrall, of Topsham, and Angela Turcotte and her husband, Ross, of Madison; four grandchildren: Alyssa, Ryan, Brandon and Jessica; a family friend and adopted daughter, Kelley Mitchell, of Norridgewock; two sisters-in-law, Fiorella Cristofori and her husband, Remo, of Palata Pepoli, Italy, and Anna Cesari and her husband, Romano, of Pievedi Cento, Italy; one brother-in-law, Ermanno Petocchi, and his wife, Virginia, of Blackstone, Mass., along with their children, Yolanda and Renato; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, mother, father and two sons who died at birth. Donations preferred in Francillia's memory to the Somerset Humane Society, P.O. Box 453, Skowhegan, ME 04976. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2014, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Skowhegan with the Rev. John Mazzei officiating.
