She graduated from Madison Area High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after graduation. Known as Jackie to all, she met the love of her life while in the Marine Corps. Ronald W. Smith was a young man from Decatur, Ind. and they knew it was the real thing as they married three months after dating. Ronald was by her side until his death in 2007.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Janis and Ronald Wheeler of Belchertown Mass.; four children, Ronald and Patricia Smith of Madison, Kathryn and Peter Chenevert of Madison, Karen Lloyd of Eustis, and Karla and Yvon Poulin of Skowhegan. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. There was nothing more important to her then raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoying her entire family for Sunday dinners.
Her hobbies were world history, cooking, baking, playing scrabble (a fierce competitor) and crossword puzzles that she completed every day from the newspaper.
Jackie will be truly missed and we thank her for being such an kind and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
There will be no service per her request.
