

SKOWHEGAN – Lorrie B. Walker, 53, passed away after a brief illness on August 16, 2017 surrounded by the family she loved so much. She was born in Ware, MA on March 30, 1964. The family moved to Skowhegan in 1977 and Lorrie went on to graduate from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1982. Lorrie remained in Skowhegan where she raised her four sons. After marrying Kim Walker in 2004, their family grew to 7 sons. Lorrie’s children were always her top priority. She was a devoted mother and became an equally devoted grandmother.
Lorrie enjoyed fishing or just going out in the boat for a ride. She was known for her creative choice of bait which could be anything from jerky to gummy worms. She had a passion for gardening vegetables, flowers and fruit trees. She was especially fond of the fruit from a peach tree that was a gift from her mother-in-law. Lorrie was a strong willed woman who was accepting of others, able offer forgiveness when needed, and was always concerned with her family’s wellbeing. She had the biggest heart.
She was proud to be a 12 year breast cancer survivor and a huge supporter of breast cancer awareness.
Lorrie is survived by her husband of 15 years, Kim L. Walker; sons, Dustin J. Austin, Garrett N. Austin, Kyle A. Austin, Nicholas J. Austin, Billy J. Walker and his wife Mary Kristine, Joseph A. Walker, and Ferdinand K. Walker and his wife Danielle; grandchildren, Xeayla, Timothy, Serenidy, Ryley and Hermione; sister, Robin Hubert and her husband James; father, Bill Dittmer; nephew Ryan Arsenault; and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, Jane Anderson and her parents-in-law, Ferdinand and Marie Walker.
A celebration of Lorrie’s life will be held at 1pm, Friday, August 25 at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Avenue, Skowhegan with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
Lorrie’s family extends their deepest appreciation to the 2 West nursing staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center and hospice nurse Karen Gallant.
