

William Francis Brosnan, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2017. Uncle Mister Bill (UMB, Bill) was an avid sports fan, loved the color orange, and always had some type of camera or electronic device at his fingertips. He was the happiest when he was spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He was born December 31, 1964 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the son of James J. Brosnan and Barbara (Hoganson) Brosnan.
A 1982 Graduate of Brunswick High School, where he played baseball. In 1987, he graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Bill was a subject matter expert on vibration, acoustics, and electrical/ fiber optic pressure proof connectors. He worked in the ship silencing and special projects branch in electrical engineering division at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he recently received recognition for 30 years of service.
Bill had a passion for travel. He escorted family and friends on various trips across country and abroad. His favorite places to visit were Ireland, Scotland, the Canadian Rockies, and Alaska. St. Louis held special place; home of his beloved Cardinals.
He loved 80’s music, Hawaiian print shirts, cooking and being the life of the party. Quick to give a witty comment or recall an old movie line, Bill was sure to make you laugh.
Bill spent a lot of time in the Skowhegan area attending activities of his nieces.
He is survived by his siblings, James “Jay” R. Brosnan of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Jo Ann Brosnan of Winterhaven, FL, Barbara B. Welch of Skowhegan, ME, Nancy J. Brosnan of Winterhaven, FL, Patrick M. Brosnan of Tewksbury, MA; his nephews, Sean Brosnan of Panama City, FL, Justin Woodward of Abilene, TX, Nick Woodward of Fort Walton Beach, FL; his nieces,
Cortney Brosnan of Charleston, SC, Lydia Welch of Smithfield, ME, Caitlin Brosnan of Tewksbury, MA, and Kylie Welch of Skowhegan, ME.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan, Maine, and burial will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
