Dorothy is survived by her 3 children, Renay Hopkins, Dawn Marie (Michael) Helin, and Daniel (Denise) Johnson and 10 grandchildren: Erika (David) Reynolds, Lindsey (Dane) Stetner, Jordan (Samantha) Johnson, Mikayla (Caleb) Valdovinos, Riley (Sierra) Johnson, Danika (Spencer) Grant, Kimberlyn Helin, Kelsey Hopkins, Levi Helin and Elijah Johnson.
She was also “Gigi” to her 13 beloved great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings, Lois Welch, Marjorie Campbell, Jack Verbeck and Jerry Verbeck.
Dorothy grew up in Wichita, Kansas where she met and married Daniel Johnson in June of 1957. They went on to have 3 children. After the birth of their third child they relocated to Seattle, Washington in 1966 where they continued raising their family. Family was always Dorothy’s focus and nothing brought her greater joy than raising her children, serving her family and doting on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family and faith in God were Dorothy’s greatest passions. She was devoted, first and foremost, to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was always actively involved in her church and was always ready to share her faith with others. She had a servant’s heart and was extremely compassionate—always the first to lend a hand to those who were hurting, struggling or in need of extra encouragement, even opening her home to several struggling teens over the years.
Dorothy made a huge impact on many lives and continued to do so, even in the final years of her life—reaching out and serving those in her retirement community and leading Bible studies in her home. To know her was to love her.
Dorothy’s legacy will live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as in the many other lives she touched.
The memorial service will be held at Bethany Christian Assembly in Everett, WA on February 7th, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
