

Elaine May (Grannis) Tanner, was born December 28th 1936 to Hugh and Hattie Grannis of North Dakota. Elaine passed peacefully in her sleep on December 19th, 2024. She was married to the first love of her life Dwight Tanner in 1955 and spent 58 wonderful years together. They enjoyed camping and the outdoors with their two children. The family enjoyed many adventures camping with trips all over in a travel trailer. They spent a lot of time at Maggie Lake, Camping, riding and building. Elaine and Dwight enjoyed several winter vacations to Hawaii where they made many friends and memories together. Elaine worked for North Shore School District until she retired were she began her career as a bus driver and then moving into a teaching assistant. She loved helping the special needs students and was very active in her union. She received the Golden Acorn Award for work performed. As a bus driver she and her family traveled to Indiana to pick up a new bus and drive it back to the school district. She was able to get a camping trip organized for her students to the family property at Maggie Lake. Elaine was "Mom" to a lot of people, always making friends and life long connections everywhere she went. After retirement Elaine and Dwight traveled all over the US and Canada in their 40ft motorhome. After Dwight passed Elaine met the second love of her life, Kal where they were able to share more than 10 wonderful years together. They had fun taking trips to North Dakota where she was born to visit family and friends by taking the train once and driving a couple of times. Elaine is survived by her beloved partner Kal, daughter Debbie; son Rick (Lesa); four grandsons Troy, Casey (Kim), Paul (Corrie), Royce (Jessica) and seven great grandchildren; Marie, DJ, Breeya, Carrie, Autumn, Maximus and Emily. She is also survived by her sister Ellen (Jerry) and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Elaine's celebration of life with will be held at New Hope Fellowship - 1012 West Main St, Monroe, WA 98272 on February 15th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Alpha Home Health and Hospice at (425) 363-9559.
