Sarah passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on August 1, 2018, after her courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on January 30, 1945 in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas to Fransisco and Dolores Alcala’ (deceased). Sarah was preceded in death by her sisters:Petra Alcala’; Alicia McCauley; Eudelia Alcala; Marta Irene Alcala; Luzita Alcala +; her brothers: Arnulfo Alcala; Santos Alcala+.
She met the love of her life and they were married on November 8th, 1962 in Texas. She relocated to Washington State, a state she absolutely loved and settled in Seattle to start a family in the town of Lake City. Sarah worked in the downtown area for the same company ABM for over 40 years.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Jose’ Daniel Bocanegra of Seattle and most recently Snohomish; her brothers: Arturo Alcala’(Janie)-Houston Tx.; Alfonso Alcala (Janie)-Sandusky OH; Alfredo Alcala’-Houston Tx; and her sister: Mary Herminia Nunley (Joe)-Houston Tx; her two daughters:Donna G. Bocanegra of Everett; Debbie J. Bocanegra-Clipper (Clarence)of Snohomish; her two sons: Scott Bocanegra (Karen) of Marysville; Steven A. Bocanegra (Stephanie)of Brier; her grandkids: Maya, Betty (Gwen) Samuel, Jessica, Elena and Fernando.
Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandkids were the light of her life. She also enjoyed gardening in her yard, cooking, crafting involving sewing, knitting and making jewelry. She also was an amazing cook. She loved being “busy”.
There will be a celebration of life Memorial August 9,2018 at 9:00 at the Bauer Funeral Chapel 701 First Street Snohomish, Washington 98290 with her funeral following at 11:00 St. Michael’s Catholic Church 1514 Pine Ave. Snohomish, Wa 98290.
