Alice C. Apuzzo, 99, of Solvay, the beloved daughter of Eva and Edward Fischer, passed away Thursday January 19th at Upstate at Community General Hospital in Syracuse. Born in St. Louis, she was raised in NY City before moving to Solvay 20 years ago. She was a member of the Solvay Seniors and loved to play Bingo and frequent the casino. Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Fred, her sister, Irene Klein and her brother, Leo Fischer.
She is survived by a daughter; Carole (Joseph) Emmi, a son; Robert (Lucy) Apuzzo, 3 grandchildren; Michael, Nancy and Jay (Dee) Emmi, 5 great-grandchildren; Kayla, Alyssa, Nicholas, Brianna and RJ, all who affectionately called her “Gi-Gi”, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 1 to 3 pm Sunday January 23rd at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave., Solvay. Private entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas VanNguyen and the 3rd floor staff at Upstate at Community General Hospital for their exceptional compassion and care.
