Richard M. Martini, 70, of Solvay, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Syracuse to Michael and Josephine (Chistolini) Martini, he graduated from Solvay High School and Syracuse University with his BS-ME Degree. He was an engineer at Carrier Corporation for 37 years before retiring in 1999. Among his many passions were SU sports, golf, model railroading and model airplanes. He was also an avid reader, historian and enjoyed traveling. His greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Anna Cerio, 3 sons; David (Kelly), of Liverpool, Kenneth (Sook Jin), of Norton, MA, and Steven (Shannon), of Camillus, 5 grandchildren; Samantha, Mathew, Nicole, Joseph and Julianna Martini, an aunt; Georgia Sauda, of Rochester, 2 nephews and many cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 am Saturday September 15th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9 am at St. Cecilia Church, Solvay, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Resurrection Mausoleum, DeWitt. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 pm Friday September 14th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Avenue.
