
Born in Swansea, a daughter of the late Eugene and Philomene (Levesque) Santerre, she was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Diman Vocational School of Practical Nursing, class of 1973. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Truesdale Hospital and Nursing Homes in the area including Clifton.
Mrs. Bacon was a member of the Somerset Republican Town Committee, and the Massachusetts State Guard Women’s Division during World War II. She was active in Girl Scouting in Somerset and her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Vivianne P. Pickren of Bayfield, CO, one son Robert P. Bacon Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Somerset, one brother Raymond Santerre of Tucson, AZ, one sister Jacquelyn Chace of Swansea, six grandchildren Robert Bacon III, Christopher and Aimee Bacon, Stephanie Hickey and Allison and Matthew Pickren, one great grandson Sam Bacon, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Pauline Berube, Elizabeth Squillace, Irene Desrousseau, Theresa Sevigny, Beatrice Lamontagne, Gerald, Lucien, Rene, and Roland Santerre.
Her Funeral will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:00AM in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made Country Gardens Alzheimer’s Unit, 2045 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea, MA 02777. Arrangements are in the care of the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at ROSE E. SULLIVAN. Burial in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
