C. Dolores (Carvalho) Farias, age 90, of Swansea, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. She was the loving wife of the late Armand Farias, with whom she shared seventy years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Cadeiro) Carvalho, she was a longtime resident of Swansea.
Dolores was first and foremost devoted to her late husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family jokingly referred to her as “The Baby Whisperer” because she was especially gifted in caring for infants.
She was more than willing to engage in any activity with her husband, and followed him in his favorite sporting activities including bowling and golf, winning tournaments in both sports. Her achievements were even more impressive as she was legally blind since her early thirties. She also enjoyed staying active at the gym, and running, winning several road races in her age group.
She was perhaps best known and loved by her family for always providing a spotlessly clean and welcoming home for her family, friends, and neighbors, and always reaching out to anyone in need.
She is survived by four children, Armand Farias, Jr. and his wife Rima of Thompson, CT, Michael Farias and his wife Beth of Gardner, MA, Nancy Morgado and her husband David of Swansea and Cindy Rush and her husband Brian of Swansea; four grandchildren, Stacy Wood and her husband Duncan, Lindsey Mancuso and her husband John, Stephanie Chalfant and Myles Rush; four great-grandchildren, Liam Wood, Malcolm Wood, Dustyn Chalfant and Lillian Chalfant; bonus grandchildren, Jake Leblanc, Olivia Rosado, Gabriella Hidalgo, Kara Crimmins, Patrick Crimmins, Kelly Crimmins and Daniel Crimmins, Heather Godin, Brianna Pomeranz, James Pomeranz, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late David, Irene, Laura, Alice, Joe, Maime, Mickey, Herman, Arthur, Johnny and Ernest Carvalho.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County Street SOMERSET, MA. Funeral and burial will be private.
