Mary “Dolores” (Giammetto) Miozza, age 88, of Swansea, MA passed away peacefully due to complications from pneumonia on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Country Gardens Health and Rehabilitation in Swansea, MA. She was the loving wife of the late Francis “Frank” A. Miozza.
Born in Manhattan, NY, a daughter of the late Rocco and Anna (Moricone) Giammetto, she was raised in the Bronx, NY and had lived in Somerset, MA for 53 years prior to moving to Swansea, MA.
Dolores worked at Cole Steel Office Equipment on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, NY as a secretary prior to moving to Somerset. She became a housewife and a mother before returning to work at Community Cleansers in Somerset for almost 40 years, retiring in 2017. An avid bingo player, she enjoyed playing cards with her family, going to church on Saturday evenings, and going out to dinner with her husband and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include: two children, Joseph P. Miozza and his longtime companion Ariana Dilo of Quincy and Christine M. Reis and her husband Randall of Somerset; two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Nicholas Reis; two sisters-in-law, Helena Miozza of Swansea and Pauline (Chagnon) Miozza of Louisville, KY and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Coretti and her husband Frank and her twin sister Jean Comerford and her husband Mickey. She was also predeceased by many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave, Somerset. Burial will be private.
