Born in Fall River, the son of Ronald S. Hagerman III of Dartmouth and the late Annelle (DeLorme) Hagerman, he was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School, class of 2005. He attended Fitchburg State College and was currently attending Bristol Community College in Fall River. Peter was excited to be back in school pursuing a business degree and looked forward to starting a career. He was a jack of all trades holding positions from Lifeguard at Walt Disney World, a Grip on the set of Luke Perry’s 2015 film Black Beauty, and Caddy at numerous golf courses in the region.
Peter’s greatest source of pride and joy was his beautiful son, Eli. A loving and engaging father, Peter loved to play, read books, and race cars with his son. He was especially proud to teach Eli one of his first words, “car”. Never missing one of Eli’s swim classes, they enjoyed splashing and singing songs together in the pool.
Incredibly charismatic, sensitive and giving, Peter’s ability to touch the souls and win the hearts of those he met endeared him to so many. People felt at ease with his jovial manner and he loved to make them laugh; whether sharing a funny experience or doing his best Mike Myers impression. The laughter he loved most was that of his son’s. Most recently, the pair played in the snow and could not stop laughing.
A music lover at a young age, Pete would sneak down to his father’s drum set every chance he could. He began taking saxophone at age 9 but was fascinated when he saw a family friend playing guitar. After he began playing, he never left home without his acoustic 5-string and cherished the moments when he could play for his family and friends. Dreaming of teaching his own son, Peter gave a little drum set and guitar to Eli- and Eli’s eyes would light up when he could jam with his Daddy.
Peter was passionate about athletics and began playing baseball at SIBL Baseball league, coached by his father. After playing baseball, he excelled playing basketball and played point guard on the varsity team at his high school. Peter also was a passionate golfer and loved to put together a foursome with friends and offer his advice on swing mechanics and putting strokes.
In addition to his father Ronald S. Hagerman, Peter is survived by his beloved son Eli William Sullivan Hagerman and Eli’s mother Leigh Ann Sullivan of Somerset; a sister Katia A. Greene and her husband Matt of Bridgewater; a brother Michael T. Hagerman of Dartmouth; paternal grandparents Ronald and Martha Hagerman Jr of Somerset; maternal step-grandmother June DeLorme; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Annelle DeLorme Hagerman and his maternal grandfather, Alfred DeLorme.
His Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 4 to 8pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan 866 County St., Somerset. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Annelle DeLorme-Hagerman Food Pantry c/o Church of Our Savior, 2112 County St., Somerset, MA 02726.
