Robert E. Moore Sr., age 93, of Somerset, passed away Wednesday, December 09, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Helen (Durfee) Moore to whom he has been married to for the past 71 years.
Born in Worcester, a son of the late Edwin Moore Sr. and Esther (Hamrin) Moore, he lived in Little Compton, Rhode Island for many years before moving to Somerset.
A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II as Corporal. He was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Burke Mountain, Vermont.
Mr. Moore worked as a chauffeur and a property caretaker in Little Compton for over thirty years. He loved music, playing the harmonica, gardening, and being outdoors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Trudy A. White of Newport, RI, two sons: Richard N. Moore and his companion Kathleen Laurenzo of Bethlehem, NH, Robert E. Moore Jr. and his wife Donna of Somerset, one brother: Edwin Moore Jr. of Worcester, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Ruth Smith and brother of the late Agnes O’Leary, Richard, Raymond and William Moore.
Private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribue at Rose E. Sullivan, Somerset.
