

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late William and Barbara (Sherman) Aguiar.
Bill is an SMU college graduate who went into the field of teaching. Later, he took courses to further his education in the field of guidance counseling. He obtained his master’s degree in administration from Bridgewater State College later in his career. Bill taught Social Studies at South Middle School and later came to Somerset High School as a Guidance Counselor.
Outside of the school environment he coached a team of baseball players. Bill applied for a part time position as Recreation Director for the Town enhancing the position with many programs for children and adults alike. During this time, he created an outdoor skating rink, another skating area at the Marsh, a dog park, brought the big tent circus to town, fireworks, created a new waterfront park with grants from the state and renovated Pierce Beach Park bringing “the Big Red Slide to the park.” In his capacity as Recreation Director, Bill also enhanced the playgrounds and athletic field alike.
Bill loved his family, loved this town, and loved doing all his jobs.
Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his son, Brian Aguiar of Tiverton; one sister, Linda Moraes and her husband Michael of Somerset; one brother, Larry Aguiar of Berkley; two grandchildren, Bodhi and Cyrus Aguiar as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Billy Aguiar and brother of the late Kenneth Aguiar.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Church of our Saviour, 2112 County St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited. Those wishing to attend are kindly asked to proceed directly to the church and arrive no later than 9:45 AM. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset.
