Born in Fall River a son of the late Arthur E. and Blanche (Rochan) Courville, he had lived in Somerset for the past 49 years.
A veteran of the United States Navy he served as Airman from 1962-1966 during Vietnam. Bill received an Associate’s degree in counseling from the United States Armed Forces Institute. A Shop Steward and Driver Salesman at Drake Bakeries in Taunton, he worked for over 30 years before his retirement in 2002.
A member of the Teamsters Local 64, he was also a member of Local 494 and retired from Local 170. A founder of the Faith and Quest Adult Ministry and the former St. Patrick’s Fellowship Group he was also a member of the DAV. An active communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and devout Catholic, he was on the parish council, a member of their Men’s Club, had been a Eucharistic Minister since 1983 and a recipient of the Marian Medal in 1994 presented by then Bishop Sean O’Malley. A High School Confirmation Coordinator from 1975 to 2007 he was also a Retreat Director for 25 years. Bill enjoyed traveling and hunting.
He is survived by his children, William Courville and his wife Claire of Acushnet, Cheryl Cordeiro of Somerset and Christine Marceau and her husband Scott; brother-in-law, Paul Rioux; sister-in-law, Eleanor Rioux; five granddaughters, Amber Finsness, Cassie Cordeiro and Rebekah Cordeiro and Sophia and Isabelle Marceau; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Barbara Courville and Edna Tourigny.
His Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset.
