

Alexander O’Neil Amaral, 51, of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was born in New Bedford and was the beloved son of John J. Amaral and Lisa (Amaral) Amaral.
Alex was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and worked for many years as a Construction Foreman. He was a proud member of Carpenters Union Local 327 and was also a skilled welder. Known for his strong work ethic and hands-on talent, Alex took great pride in everything he did.
Above all else, Alex’s greatest joy and priority in life was being the best father he could be to his daughter, KayLynn. His world revolved around her, and his love, dedication, and support defined who he was. Family meant everything to Alex, and his big heart showed in the way he cared for those around him.
Alex had a passion for working on cars and enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with family and friends at cookouts, holidays, and family gatherings. He loved dancing, listening to music, and being surrounded by the people he loved. The life of the party, Alex will be remembered for his infectious laugh, bright smile, and the joy he brought into every room. He also cherished time spent with his beloved dog, Max.
In addition to his parents, John J. Amaral of Maine and Lisa Amaral of Fall River, he is survived by his loving daughter, KayLynn Amaral, and future son-in-law, Cameron Seitz of Swansea; his second daughter, MaKenna Dias of Swansea; his niece, Ashton Fournier of Fall River; his great-niece, Bailey Vega Strawn; and his best friend of over 27 years and the mother of his daughter, Michelle Bruneau of Swansea; his sister figure, Sherry Legault, and her children, Thomas and Allyson Legault of Swansea. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vagner (Vega) Amaral.
His visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA 02748. Burial in Rural Cemetery.
