Barbara C. (Mortensen) Perry, 83, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Catholic Memorial. She was the beloved wife of Robert F. Perry, with whom she shared 63 devoted years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, Barbara was the daughter of the late Martin and Veronica (Brzozowski) Mortensen. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and went on to work as a claims adjuster for Commercial Union Insurance Company, where she dedicated over 20 years of service.
Barbara was a very caring woman with a heart of gold. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading, knitting, cooking, shopping, and especially finding a good bargain. She had a true passion for crocheting and generously donated her time and talents by making hats and blankets for babies in the nursery at Southcoast Hospitals. She also enjoyed traveling, particularly family trips to Maine.
Her husband Robert was the love of her life, and his unwavering dedication as her caregiver spoke volumes of their bond. Above all else, Barbara lived for her family and cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by her loving children: Jeff Perry and his wife Cheryl of Dartmouth, Eric Perry and his wife Melissa of Westport, and Jennifer Perry and her wife Kathleen of Fall River; her grandchildren, Jenna Reis and her husband Ryan, Jordan Perry and fiancé Mitch Bullock, Samantha Frenette and her husband Drew, and Cole Perry; and her great-grandchildren, Hudson Reis, Wyatt Reis, and Parker Bullock, expected soon. She is also survived by her brothers, Martin Mortensen Jr. of Florida and Matthew Mortensen and his wife Anne of Rochester, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister-in-law of the late Glenda Mortensen of Florida.
Barbara’s visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by a 2:00 PM service at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA 02748. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
