Barbara A. Silva

Barbara Ann (Valliere) Silva, 89, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph E. Silva, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. He was the love of her life.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Irving H. and Florence (Barriteau) Valliere.

Barbara did clerical work at both the former Colonial Textiles and later, at Pediatric Associates. Her kind-hearted nature came naturally when helping others. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. Family meant everything to her and she was happiest when she was with them. Barbara was committed to her Catholic faith, living a life guided by the principles of love and compassion. She especially enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time at the Foxwood’s Casino.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her loving grandchildren, Keith Silva and Lauren Weed and her husband Kevin Weed of FL; great-grandchildren, Rylie Silva and Noah, Presley, Finn, and Skylar Weed; nephews, Gary Allen, Scott Allen and his wife Traci, and Mark Fogaren and his wife Sheila; brothers-in-law, Alfred Fogaren and George Allen, several cousins and great nieces and nephews. She was the loving mother of the late Steven Gouveia, and stepmother of the late Ted Silva. She was also predeceased by her loving brother George Prescott, and her loving sisters Carol Flannigan, Elaine Fogaren, Joan Valliere, and Janice Allen. She was also predeceased by her niece, Sharon Fogaren.

Barabra’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace. You will be deeply missed and always remembered.
